Our guest on Tek-Talk is Jeanmarc who is the head of research and Development for WeWalk. “By equipping the white cane with modern technology, WeWALK improves the safety and independence of visually impaired people, allowing them full and equal participation in everyday life.” WeWALK acts as a new handle when attached to the long cane and was designed to feel natural, allowing for normal cane usage. When walking, WeWALK vibrates to indicate low-hanging obstacles that the bottom of a cane may typically miss, such as a sign or tree branch. Additionally, the free WeWALK app is available for both iOS and Android and includes low vision mapping and exploration features. Jeanmarc will join us via recorded Zoom conversation from London in the UK. He will discuss the many features of the cane which make it so intriguing. Following his presentation we’ll hear from Nick Zammarelli who put together a demonstration of the WeWalk cane for the Mosen at Large Podcast #76.
You are encouraged to download the podcast for much more information. During the podcast, Nick will weWalk you through the WeWalk app available from the app store and Google Play and also give you a very thorough demonstration of the cane. The link to the podcast is:
