Writer, Editor, Teacher and Performance artist, Terry Wolverton to be Guest on Books and Beyond Wednesday, May 21, 2008

The Accessible World News Wire, May 17, 008 Indianapolis, Indiana USA

Throughout her varied career as a writer, editor, teacher, and performance artist, Books and Beyond guest feminist Terry Wolverton has consistently worked to document Gay and Lesbian history and increase the visibility of the community. This dedication to the feminist political movement caused much personal frustration initially in securing meaningful curriculum in a number of educational institutions in both the United States and Canada and then later in securing satisfactory employment in the performing arts. When she seriously questioned how best to express herself artistically, she was drawn to writing and her fiction, poetry, essays and drama have now been published nationally and internationally.

In 1997, she founded Writers at Work, a center for creative writing in Los Angeles, where she offers several weekly workshops in fiction and poetry. She is currently an Associate Faculty Mentor for the MFA Writing Program at Antioch University Los Angeles. She spent thirteen years at the Woman's Building, a public center for women's culture, eventually serving as its executive director. She is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for her artistic and community contributions, most recently, a California Arts Council Artist Fellowship for Poetry and a COLA Fellowship from the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

Following the formal interview by Talk Show Host Bonnie Blose, Terry Wolverton will be available to answer questions from the audience.
